Mr. Boston is correct. There are no readable instructions included with the "adding machine." You are on your own in figuring out the machinations of adding and subtraction. Canon's technical writers use 5 point type and miserable tiny drawings which fail to provide basic learning guides to the calculator's operation.

I was unaware there was anything called an "adding machine" and learned this the hard way. I wanted a basic calculator with large buttons and the ability to print if I needed it to. I have two home based businesses, and thought I'd benefit from something with a little more heft to it.
Unfortunately, I am a mathematical buffoon, so I thought this canon calculator was broken when I first tried it. I had a feeling there was something more to it, and after asking a couple people, found out about the "adding machine", which is what this is.
I really, really wish that had been on the box. There's also nothing in the directions that really told me how this was used. I can load paper and press the on button no problem, I need a more advanced manual. I've got the basic lowdown now, but still sometimes get a different conclusion every time, even if I think I'm doing things the same way. I have to check all my work with a regular calculator, though I'm trying to become more proficient at it and use this as my main machine.
It prints fast, in two colors. The size of it is nice, not too big. If it worked like a regular calculator, I'd be THRILLED.
If you know you're purchasing an adding machine, this is great. If you need a calculator and get frustrated with anything more then the basics, you best move on.

new office digs, smaller area, so this fits perfectly and does the same as the big bulky ones.
bonus - looks more fashionable in white.
